[China Securities Journal] GCL Optoelectronics Completes Over RMB 100 Million D1 Round Financing
According to China Securities Journal (CSJ), Kunshan GCL Optoelectronic Materials Co., Ltd. recently completed a D1 financing round exceeding RMB 100 million, according to a statement released on the company’s official WeChat account on August 3. The round was led by Jinxin Capital, with participation from Sequoia China, Xiamen Xiang’an Investment, Suzhou Asset Management and other investors. GCL Optoelectronics stated that the newly raised funds will primarily support the commercial delivery of its perovskite photovoltaic products for ground-based solar power plants, as well as validation of space-based photovoltaic applications.
As one of the earliest companies in the industry dedicated to the commercialization of perovskite modules, GCL Optoelectronics has focused on perovskite technology R&D since 2013. The company has achieved a series of industry milestones, including the establishment of a 100MW-scale perovskite pilot R&D line, laying the foundation for large-scale manufacturing equipment and process development; and the launch of 2-square-meter perovskite modules, demonstrating the engineering feasibility of large-area fabrication. Today, GCL Optoelectronics has built a continuously evolving perovskite technology platform with broad applicability across multiple scenarios.
According to GCL Optoelectronics, in ground-based applications, its perovskite technology has entered the commercialization stage. The company’s 2-square-meter perovskite tandem modules achieved a certified efficiency of 27%, becoming the first in the industry to obtain IEC dual-standard certification for tandem modules and securing access to major global photovoltaic markets. Its GW-scale Phase I production line is undergoing continuous ramp-up, with full-size mass-produced modules reaching an area of 2.78 square meters and a certified efficiency of 26.8%. The company is currently accelerating product validation and market adoption across applications including utility-scale solar power plants, commercial and industrial distributed photovoltaics, and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV).
Since the beginning of this year, GCL Optoelectronics has successively signed multiple MW-scale module orders, marking the transition of perovskite modules toward large-scale mass production, market-oriented procurement, and scenario-based commercial deployment.
