FBR Granular Silicon Was ed in "ESG Annual Innovation Experiment List", Building a Photovoltaic Zero-Carbon Practice Benchmark
Recently, the first "ESG Annual Innovation Experiment List" sponsored by Wall Street News and co-sponsored by Ernst & Young was released. With the excellent performance of FBR granular silicon in eco-friendliness and low carbon emission, GCL TECH stood out from many enterprises and was successfully awarded the Wall Street News "ESG Annual Innovation Experiment List".
To help the United Nations achieve the 17 sustainable development goals by 2030, which accelerate its response to the world's most severe challenges, from eradicating poverty and hunger to reversing climate change, GCL TECH focuses on the seventh goal—clean energy that is economical and practical. Through more than 10 years of independent R&D of a new generation of silicon-based PV material—FBR granular silicon, GCL TECH is committed to reducing the production energy consumption and carbon footprint of raw silicon material in the photovoltaic industry.
As is known to all, the upstream of the photovoltaic industry is a typical manufacturing industry with high energy consumption. In the context of "peak carbon emissions" and "carbon neutrality", "comprehensive decarbonization at the supply side" has become the new focus of technological innovation in the photovoltaic industry. FBR granular silicon has the characteristics of "low cost, low energy consumption, and low emissions", which is not only cost-effective in the era of cheap Internet access but also more in line with the policy requirements of reducing carbon emissions.
Compared with the rod silicon produced using the Siemens method, every 10,000 tons of FBR granular silicon produced can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 389,000 tons. From the perspective of the entire industry chain, the production of 1 GW modules using FBR granular silicon can reduce carbon emissions by 95,200 tons, and 100,000 tons of FBR granular silicon used during the entire life cycle can reduce carbon emissions of 1.117 billion tons, effectively addressing the "pain point" of high energy consumption of photovoltaic raw material production.
Up to now, the company has made outstanding achievements in low-carbon development. In May 2022, GCL TECH was successfully included in the "Hang Seng Climate Change 1.5 ℃ Target Index", indicating that the international capital market has affirmed the company's efforts in environmental protection and technological innovation. Through continuous optimization of the technical path, GCL TECH's FBR granular silicon production consumes 80% less overall power per kilogram compared with using the traditional Siemens method.
The judging panel composed of experts, leaders, and the media in the ESG field highly affirmed that FBR granular silicon is an important product in the clean energy revolution and energy structure transformation, and its breakthrough in low-carbon technology will be a steady step for China to achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
Boasting green solutions and actions with global insights for 16 years, GCL TECH promotes the development of green photovoltaic materials, resolves resource and environmental constraints, and realizes the sustainable use of the earth's resources. GCL TECH strives to become a world-leading R&D and intelligent manufacturer of photovoltaic materials. GCL TECH will always take green actions to fulfill its green commitments, promote the realization of carbon neutrality, and guard the earth for the well-being of humanity.
