Silicon particles technology plays a leading role in PV industry and contributes to carbon neutrality in China
On the night of February 28, GCL-Poly released two announcements about expansion of production capacity of silicon particles project, which marked the focus of the Company on silicon particles main business and the mature replicability of silicon particles technology, thereby establishing a three-pronged model covering the east, west and north. According to the announcement, the silicon particles capacity expansion program of GCL-Poly has made significant substantive progress in Sichuan and Inner Mongolia. This marked the first case of executing and implementing FBR-based silicon particles technology of GCL-Poly in places other than Xuzhou, which is of milestone significance for the silicon particles capacity expansion program.
According to the announcement, Leshan Sumin, the entity building Sichuan Leshan silicon particles project (60,000t in Phase I), has successfully introduced strategic investors and received full support from Leshan Municipal Government. The Leshan Zhongping Polysilicon Photovoltaic Information Industry Investment Fund Partnership (Leshan Fund) boasts a size of RMB4.502 billion, including paid-in amount of RMB3.452 billion in the initial period. In addition to the above fund investment, Jiangsu Zhongneng, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GCL-Poly, also made enhanced investment in the silicon particles project with a direct investment of RMB1 billion, providing a more robust guarantee for the rapid implementation of the project.
According to another announcement, on the night of February 28, GCL-Poly and Wuxi Shangji Automation Co., Ltd. (Wuxi Shangji) officially signed the Strategic Cooperation Letter of Intent. As agreed in the LOI, GCL-Poly and Wuxi Shangji reached long-term cooperation agreement on the investment, R&D and production of 300,000t silicon particles project in Inner Mongolia with total investment of RMB18 billion. The project includes three phases. Phase I has designed capacity of 60,000 tons with estimated total investment of RMB3.6 billion. Such strategic cooperation not only reflects the wide recognition of downstream manufactures about the silicon particles technology of GCL-Poly, but also helps the acquisition of silicon particles market share in a rapid and wide manner, which has significant meaning for the wide market promotion and application of silicon particles.
